Super Meat Boy is making a bold return in full 3D. The indie platforming legend is evolving with a brand-new look, new gameplay mechanics, and a 3D world. Here’s what fans need to know.

Super Meat Boy Is Going 3D in Upcoming Game

The beloved indie icon Super Meat Boy is officially returning—but this time, he’s leaping out of 2D and into a fully 3D world. Developers Team Meat have announced that the next installment of the Super Meat Boy franchise will be a 3D platformer, marking a bold and exciting evolution for the notoriously difficult side-scroller.

From Hardcore 2D to Next-Level 3D Platforming

Known for its tight controls, fast-paced gameplay, and brutal difficulty, Super Meat Boy has become a cult classic since its original launch in 2010. The upcoming 3D version will retain the spirit of the original but will feature:

  • Fully explorable 3D levels

  • Physics-based obstacles

  • Enhanced movement and combat mechanics

  • A dynamic camera system tailored for speedrunning and precision

The developers promise that while the format is changing, the difficulty and precision that fans love will stay intact.

New Art Style, Same Meat Boy Energy

The shift to 3D also comes with a new, stylized look for Meat Boy, combining cartoonish charm with high-performance visuals. Early footage suggests a vibrant, colorful world full of twisted traps and chaotic energy.

While the game’s full title and release date haven’t been revealed yet, the teaser has already generated major buzz in the indie gaming community.

What Platforms Will the New Super Meat Boy Be On?

While no official platforms have been confirmed, sources close to Team Meat indicate that the new Super Meat Boy game will likely release on:

  • PC (Steam & Epic Games Store)

  • Xbox Series X|S

  • PlayStation 5

  • Nintendo Switch

There’s also speculation about a Game Pass debut, but that has yet to be confirmed.
